Vehicle Material Damage Insurance is a new insurance product, exclusive to Scania, which allows customers to separate the material damage and third party liability elements of their motor insurance. By separating these elements customers are able to guarantee that any repairs to their vehicle are carried out by a member of the Scania repair network, as well as accessing fixed premiums for up to 5 years for the material damage element and enjoying potential savings on their overall motor insurance spend.
Customers currently insured on a traditional comprehensive truck or fleet insurance policy can choose to insure the material damage element of their risk under this policy, reducing their Comprehensive policy to Third Party Only with their current insurance provider. The Scania Vehicle Material Damage policy will then insure the 'gap' between the Third Party Only and Comprehensive policies - i.e. the Accidental Damage, Fire & Theft risks.
There are a number of advantages that this method of insuring vehicles can deliver for Scania customers:
The guarantee that all repair work to all vehicles, regardless of accident fault, will be completed by an approved Scania repairer, using genuine Scania parts.
No requirement for the insured to collect estimates for repairs following an accident - vehicles are simply booked into the Scania network via the insurance claims line and work can begin immediately.
Fixed insurance premiums for the material damage for up to five years. This is particularly relevant in the current climate where the majority of major insurers are predicting large increases in the cost of motor insurance over the next few years.
Automatic protection of the no claims bonus or claims experience under the third party only policy from claims involving material damage only.
Mixed fleets of vehicles can be insured in this manner, as the policy is not restricted to Scania vehicles.
Many customers will save money on their overall annual premium for motor insurance, as the reduction in premium given by insurers for the reduction in cover from Comprehensive to Third Party will frequently offset or be greater than the total annual premium for the Scania Vehicle Material Damage Insurance.
The insurance cover can be purchased to coincide with Repair and Maintenance Contracts for vehicles as there is no need to wait for the insurance renewal date in order to reduce the current comprehensive insurance cover. Most insurers will issue mid term return premiums for a reduction in cover at your request.
Full details of the policy, including the premiums on offer and interest free financing options, are available on request from your Scania dealer.
