Keltruck Director Chris Kelly becomes MP for Dudley South

Keltruck Director Chris Kelly overcame a Labour majority to be elected as the new Conservative Member of Parliament for Dudley South in the early hours of Friday morning.

The final results saw a majority of almost 4,000 and a positive 9.5% swing to Mr Kelly and the Conservatives. The seat was previously held by former Labour minister, Ian Pearson.

Keltruck's Founder and Chairman, Chris Kelly senior, commented: "I'm delighted that my son, Chris, is now the elected member for Dudley South. This is something that he has worked incredibly hard at for a long time, and I have no doubt that he will make an excellent constituency member for the good folk of Dudley South."

Chris Kelly MP commented: "It has been an incredibly exciting first week as the new Conservative Member of Parliament for Dudley South. I would like to thank most sincerely everyone who voted for me and helped with my campaign. I am naturally delighted that David Cameron is our new Conservative Prime Minister. The new Cabinet contains so many people of exceptional ability and I am delighted to see my colleagues, the Rt. Hon. William Hague MP, the Rt. Hon. George Osborne MP, the Rt. Hon. Ken Clarke QC MP, the Rt. Hon. Francis Maude MP, the Rt. Hon. Theresa May MP & the Rt. Hon. Andrew Mitchell MP, all of whom visited Dudley in recent months and years, appointed to Cabinet positions. It was an honour to be in Committee Room 14 at 10 p.m. on Tuesday night when David and Samantha Cameron entered the room less than an hour after they had entered 10 Downing Street for the first time. The reception the new Prime Minister and his wife received was absolutely tremendous. I am now looking forward to getting on with representing Dudley South in Parliament as a Government MP working hard for all residents. I am also delighted that Keltruck customer Andrew Bridgen MP of AB Produce plc has joined me in the House of Commons as Conservative MP for his home seat of North West Leicestershire."

Chris has been a member of the Conservative Party since 1996 and has held numerous positions in the voluntary party in that time, mainly in the Black Country. After graduating from business school Chris worked for the Rt. Hon. Michael Howard QC MP whilst he was Leader of the Conservative Party up until the leadership election of December 2005. During his time working for Michael Howard Chris gained an invaluable insight into the work of a dedicated constituency MP, something he now wishes to emulate for the people of Dudley South.

Whilst studying for an MBA Chris interned, as part of the research team, at the 'no' campaign against Britain joining the euro (the main keep the pound campaign) during the Treasury's assessment of the Government's six economic tests for euro entry. Chris's political interest and activism dates back to his early teens when he wrote his first ever letter in the Express & Star newspaper questioning an increase in the price of entry to the council baths!

Chris held the position of Marketing Director between 2006 and 2010. In January he changed position within Keltruck to non-executive director to devote more time to his successful campaign for election to Parliament.

Keltruck Limited operates a vehicle maintenance unit in the Dudley South constituency on Oak Lane in Kingswinford.
